"We're almost home," Psy said, as he and his father took a right turn while walking in the streets of Cherrygrove. As they made the turn, he noticed his Pidgeotto and Kirlia standing next to each other, looking at him and his dad, as if they had been waiting for them. "Joe! Kirleen! What are you guys doing here?" Psy asked, surprised by their presence. "Roger, Joe and I would like to speak with you," Kirleen said, using her telepathy. Joe nodded. "Alright, what's on your mind?" Roger asked. "In private," Kirleen clarified. "Oh." Roger looked at Psy and made a gesture, telling him to leave. "Go ahead," he said. "Tell your mom I'll be right there." Psy stood still and looked at him for a while. "Right," he answered, and kept walking. As he approached his house, he asked Azuma, "Do you have any idea what they would wanna talk about with dad in private?" Azuma shook her head. "I suppose your guess is as good as mine," he said. He walked over to a green house and opened the door. "Mom, everyone, we're back."

"Alright, he's gone," Roger said as he looked down the street. "What do you want to talk about?" "It was after your match," Kirleen started. "As we started walking, someone was communicating with me telepathically." "What? From where?" Roger asked. "I do not know," Kirleen said with her telepathic voice. "My mind's eye could not sense him anywhere in the city. All I know is that he is very far away." Roger rubbed his rugged chin with his right hand. "A 'he', huh? While I know people who have psychic powers, I don't know anyone human or Pokémon who can use it to this extent. Except for maybe one." "Who might that be?" Kirleen asked. "That's not important right now. What did he tell you?" Kirleen's eyes began glowing blue. "I will use my mind's eye to relive the conversation." Kirleen stretched her arms toward Roger, and a glowing blue lining could be seen around his body. Joe hopped over to Roger and stretched out his wing and touched Roger's leg, which caused the blue lining to cover his body as well.

"Finally! I found someone!"
"Hm? Who is this?"
"That is not important right now. There are more pressing matters to be discussed!"
"Please calm down and elaborate. I will try to assist anyway I can."
"Heh, typical of a Kirlia. Alright, do you have a trainer?"
"Yes, I do."
"How many other trainers are there in your vicinity?"
"Only one. Mine."
"I see. This does not bode well."
"How so?"
"Something big is headed in your direction."
"A Pokémon?"
"Yes. I've been chasing it since it crossed the sea from Kanto to Johto. It began to wreak havoc when it passsed over Ilex Forest and Azelea Town. And now it's on it way here."
"It attacked another town?"
"It did, however I managed to minimize the damage it inflicted on the town. At the cost of my condition."
"Why is it acting that way?"
"I do not know, but I haven't been able to peer into its thought or calm it down. And right now, I can only chase until it decides to attack somewhere else. That's why, you need to tell your trainer about this. And get him to evacuate the villagers. I can't guarantee their safety in my current state."
"I will do what I can."
"You have 3 hours before it gets here. Provided I can't stop it."
"Thank you for the warning."
"You can thank me when this is over."

"3 hours…" Roger said. "We battled 2 hours ago. Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Roger asked. "I know you well, Roger. You are not one to flee from a battle." Kirleen said with a smile. Roger looked at her for a while, and then he burst into laughter. "Haha! Guess I can't fool you!" Roger punched his right palm with excitement. "We're gonna take this Pokémon down!" Joe flapped his wings and lifted himself off the ground, maintaining himself in midair. "You keep a look out for any large Pokémon, and let me know when you see it, alright Joe?" Joe nodded in agreement, and took flight, ascending high above Cherrygrove and began flying around. "Let's go Kirleen," Roger said. "We have an hour to prepare.
